As a part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), British American Media has been looking at what we can do to help our local community. After a lot of thought, we’ve decided to raise money for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Providing care for children in the West Midlands and beyond, the Birmingham Children’s Hospital is always looking for a helping hand. Over 240,000 patients visit their 354 beds, 34 speciality surgeries and a range of other services that they need in order to get better.
The whole team took a tour of the hospital this month in order to really connect with the cause we’re looking after. The wonderful Hayley Miller and Laura Richards escorted us around the entire Victorian building, informing us of fundraising projects past and present. We were astounded by all the work that could be completed!
After a tour of the hospital to look at the projects that needed help, we’ve decided that we’d like to help the complex care ward. Previously a room to look after children with mental health problems, the ward is now being turned into a Complex Care Ward. In serious need of both decoration and equipment, this ward is a place for children and their families that need long-term care.
The entire project is going to cost around £70,000, with up to £60, 000 being used to create a specialist bathroom that the children really need.
As we’re new to fundraising, our aim is to contribute £8,000 towards this project in the hope of making a difference.
